An Internet service provider (ISP) provides a local PoP for consumers with dial-up Internet access in exchange for a monthly fee. No ISP
has a modem for every customer because not every customer is going to be online at any one time. If however, you're getting a lot of busy signals, especially in the evenings when traffic is highest, then your ISP probably doesn't have
enough modems to support the demand in your area. Changing to a different ISP may help, but you certainly don't want to change your ISP and then find out your new ISP is just as bad. |
